So two things pretty exciting happened this weekend:
#1 Anna visited me in DC.
#2 Within a few hours of her being here we decided to die my hair dark again.
The ombre had definitely run it's course. Results are a little darker than I expected, but I'm happy with it... and my new high-waisted black pants seen here... and this cool office building graffiti backdrop we found on my lunch break. What I'm not happy with is the fact that Anna left. Next trip already in the works.

It's no surprise that I love chevron, and this shirt is a fun stylized version of one of my favorite prints. It was also the perfect top to wear in this crazy weather-not too hot but not too cold, and flowy enough to cope with the wind!

Of course the one weekend I decide to go home to VB, it snows. Completely unprepared, I packed flats and no coat. Despite the fact that I had to borrow my mom's way too small pea coat and had a couple of near death experiences slipping on ice- I have to say I'm really liking this red and camel color combo. Maybe my inability to pack appropriately worked in my favor... this time.

This is the perfect outfit for a lazy day: comfortable, casual, and multi-layered. 

I also have no idea what the graffiti says on the last picture (it didn't seem offensive though!) but I couldn't resist a photo-op!

This rose gold watch is my favorite new accessory. Apparently I will never have enough watches. Tortoise is next.

tortoise shell obsessed

So I've been in love with tortoise shell for a couple years now, but as of late it's taken on a whole new level of obsession. Anytime I see something tortoise shell I immediately want it -- earrings, sunglasses, bracelets, etc. Needless to say when I got this necklace for Christmas I was extremely happy, because I've been on the search for a tortoise and gold chain-link one to match my watch!

I was wandering around TJ Maxx as usual and I came across this shirt. It was about $10, so I couldn't pass it up. It's turned out to be one of my best purchases- appropriate for work, day, and a night out. Oh also, it's so comfortable. The benefits of buying an XL.

This outfit is super cozy and perfect for the colder weather when I don't feel like wearing jeans...all of the layers keep me warm and I love the mixed textures and patterns. Wearing everything in the same color palette helps to ensure a cohesive look...something to definitely keep in mind so you don't end up looking miss-matched!
