lazy day

Marshall's chambray top // Forever 21 cardigan // Karen Scott boots // Michael Kors watch

This is the perfect outfit for a lazy day: comfortable, casual, and multi-layered.
I also have no idea what the graffiti says on the last picture (it didn't seem offensive though!) but I couldn't resist a photo-op!

luna

B. Makowksy purse // Marshall's top // Forever 21 skirt // Karen Scott boots

While Katina was home for Christmas break, we got a chance to go to our favorite restaurant in Norfolk, Luna Maya, for our yearly Mother/Daughter dinner with both of our moms. Besides hosting our annual gathering, Luna Maya seriously has the best vegetarian tamales and guacamole...seriously they're amazing!

arrowhead

Gap cardigan // H&M pants // thrifted shirt and bag // Rugged Outfitters shoes // Fossil watch // A.J. Morgan sunglasses // With Lavender and Lace necklaces

It's mid December and all things are pointing to the fact that it should be winter- Christmas lights, holiday office parties, radio stations that dedicate themselves to playing the same 10 carols or so in a constant loop- yet, we're still getting the occasional warm day. Too warm to wear a coat, too cold for nothing. This cardigan over my men's chambray button down was just right for an afternoon of wandering around downtown Norfolk (where I found these arrowhead and shark's tooth necklaces that I'm in love with.) And when it got colder later in the day? A great excuse to grab lattes and hideout in our favorite coffee shop.

denim&bricks

Forever 21 jeans and necklace // Off Broadway boots // B. Makowksy purse // Marshall's chambray and pink top

So I think it's pretty obvious if you're following this blog that we LOVE denim and chambray tops. Katina and I both wear them on a daily basis...they're trendy, super comfortable, and go with honestly everything. I wore mine with a pink top underneath and my dark jeans, but you can wear it tied with a skirt or dress, paired with colored pants or leggings, unbuttoned or buttoned-up...the possibilities are endless!

menswear

thrifted shirt // the Loft scarf // Volcom jeans // thrifted bag // mom's shoes

I have this problem... when I go into thrift stores (which is often) I gravitate towards the mens'  XXL section. Obviously when I came across this chambray button down, I didn't stand a chance. Generally, these shirts end up on the floor in the back of my closet, but this guy is an exception. Since I bought it, I think I have worn this shirt through every season with just about every pair of pants and shorts I own. $5 well spent.

all tied up

Marshalls denim shirt // Hand-me-down dress // Etienne Aigner wedges //Forever21 jewelry

I love this outfit, and anything similar to it. Denim button-downs are so versatile and can be worn with basically anything...one of my favorite ways is with a skirt or over a dress. Today I wore mine tied over a dress that one of my friends gave me years ago. It gives it a new feeling and is a super comfortable outfit!

to the hardware store

J. Crew shirt // H&M pants // Rugged Outfitters wedges // Fossil watch // thrifted bag // Forever 21 shades

So I've been in DC for almost 2 weeks now and while I have started my internship, learned my way around the metro, gone to a JMU tailgate, had great seats at a Nationals game, and attended a number of happy hours... I've taken pictures of none of it.
I decided it's been too long since I blogged, and even longer since I wore these shoes. This is my favorite 'business casual' outfit so far. Although these shoes are pretty comfortable, I have to admit I wouldn't have worn them if I had known I would be spending the better part of the day wandering around DC looking for wire clippers... definitely still an intern. Regardless, I think I won the award for best dressed at the hardware store.

green & gold

B. Makowsky purse // Marshalls shirt & skirt // Forever 21 necklace & heels // Ray-Ban sunglasses

I wore this outfit around town today shopping and buying fro-yo...two of my favorite things to do on a Monday!

urban dweller

Ray-Ban sunglasses // Mint shirt // Yellow Button dress // Thrifted purse // TJ Maxx sandals

Well, today was originally a beach day with an entirely different outfit planned, but the weather had other ideas... so I ended up in Norfolk checking out the new Urban Outfitters. Finally, after I don't know how many years of complaining to anyone who'd listen about needing an UO, we get one. Although there were definitely some things I wanted to drop some $$ on- namely an American flag baseball cap- I refrained.... maybe next time. What I didn't stop myself from buying? A cupcake from Carolina Cupcakery. Couldn't leave completely empty handed!
