So there's a funny story about this vest...While visiting Katina last year, one night we went to a "vest party" and thus made a trip to the thrift store to find options. There were plenty to choose from: funny patterned vests, crocheted vests, denim vests, and I think there was even a Winnie-the-Pooh one in the mix! I ended up choosing this black one because I thought it looked cool, but I never imagined that I would wear it again. I was trying on clothes this morning and came across it, then figured out that it's actually something cute I can wear in real life-- not just to themed parties.

Today the weather was perfect, which is a little odd considering it's the middle of fall! I was planning on wearing some of my boots this week, but turns out it's going to be a little too warm for them...and thus my sandals have made a return from the back of my closet (in which they had just recently been put). I'm not going to complain however, because before I know it the weather is going to be freeeezing!

The trench coat always felt a little too adult for me, but as soon as I landed a job I went out and got one. It's finally gotten chilly enough in DC to wear it, and I have to say I instantly feel like a grown-up when I put it on.... well as much of a grown-up that still refers to adults as "grown-ups."

This top has been in my closet for at least a year, but for some reason I have only ever worn it once. I'm not sure why, because when I tried it on this morning I realized that I do indeed like it! It has a really neat cross-hatch bird pattern all over it and a side tie at the bottom...I for one am glad that I have rediscovered this top!

I have this problem... when I go into thrift stores (which is often) I gravitate towards the mens'  XXL section. Obviously when I came across this chambray button down, I didn't stand a chance. Generally, these shirts end up on the floor in the back of my closet, but this guy is an exception. Since I bought it, I think I have worn this shirt through every season with just about every pair of pants and shorts I own. $5 well spent.

Ah, the beginnings of fall...aka my favorite time of the year. Not only does it feel perfect outside, but the season allows you to combine your summer and winter wardrobes for some new outfits. For example, this top was one of my summer staple items because it's flowy and white, therefor matching everything. By pairing it with a colorful pant and boots it makes the transition to colder weather effortlessly.

This vest is one of my favorite purchases. I got it a year ago for about 75% off at a J. Crew factory store because it's missing a snap. I can live without the snap. I don't think I could say the same about the vest. Also, I woke up today and it is apparently fall. Who knew?

I finally purchased a pair of leopard flats, something I have been coveting for a very long time. I especially love these because they are a slip-on loafer with a cute tassel...and they go with a surprising amount of my clothes! I decided to embrace my inner prep, and paired them with an electric pink flowered top and my gold purse...and I have to say, I'm slightly obsessed with the final product.

Last day in VB and I feel like I've accomplished everything I needed to: went to my favorite store (Worth the Wait), favorite bagel shop (Beach Bagel), and favorite bar (the Jewish Mother). 3 days well spent. Also I raided my mom's closet and wore her gold shoes all weekend... the perks of being home.

The Pagoda in Norfolk...such a cool place, that I never even knew about until now! It's located on the downtown waterfront in Freemason Harbor and has beautiful scenery- the perfect place to walk around and just enjoy the day.
